Research interests are focused on science and technology at the interface between materials and the environment. This encompasses fundamental and applied interdisciplinary research in a number of areas, including biomineralisation and natural materials derived from the marine environment, tracking the behaviour and impact of nanomaterials introduced to marine waters as a result of anthropogenic activity, and the development of new materials and technologies such as sensors for addressing contemporary issues in marine science.
